Free Symphony Concerts. The Nashville Symphony continues its series of free community concerts Thursday at 7:30 at Two Rivers Mansion. The series features eight performances across the Middle Tennessee region during the month of June. Featuring works by Brahms, Bernstein, Sibelius, Copland, Gershwin and more, the community concerts deliver classical favorites in a casual setting at local parks. All performances are free (except where noted) and will be conducted by Nashville Symphony Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran. Attendees are invited to share their experience on social media and be entered to win a special prize from the Nashville Symphony and Griffin Technology. To enter, shoot a photo at a community concert and post to Instagram using the tags @nashvillesymphony and #NSOsummer. Winners will be announced the day after each concert. Fourth Annual Westhaven Porchfest

Westhaven’s 4th annual Porchfest, an art and music festival, is scheduled for 4-10 p.m. at the Westhaven community in West Franklin. Porchfest will include more than 100 performers from local and regional musical acts, playing on more than 26 porches in the Westhaven community throughout the event. The event is family friendly, open to the public and free of charge. Returning for a second year, a visual artist showcase has been included in the line-up to give concert-goers more options. Lantern Tour of Stones River National Cemetery

Stories taken from the letters and diaries of men who fought and died in the Civil War will be presented this summer at the Stones River National Battlefield. Free program, 7:45 p.m. Reservations are required and may be made beginning the Monday prior to the cemetery tour at 9 a.m. by calling the visitors center at (615) 893-9501(615) 893-9501. Reservations will not be taken in the visitor center or by email. There is a limit of four tickets per caller, and reservations are not transferrable. Comfortable walking shoes and insect repellent are recommended. BBQ + Brew

Historic Travellers Rest will host the BBQ + Brew summer event, Noon- 3 p.m. with BBQ and beer on the grounds outside the historic home. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Travellers Rest. Guests will enjoy music, as well as corn hole and other games on the lawn. Event sponsors include Black Abbey Brewing Company and Famous Dave’s BBQ. Sunset Concert Series

The Battle of Franklin Trust has announced the dates and lineup for its annual Sunset Concert Series, a family-friendly, summer tradition providing monthly outdoor concerts on the east lawn of Carnton Plantation. This year’s schedule includes a wide-array of classic favorites:

  •  Sunday, June 28: Journey Tribute Band: Resurrection
  •  Sunday, July 26: Classic 70s Pop Rock by Vinyl Radio
  •  Sunday, August 30: Eagles Tribute Band: 7 Bridges Band

Admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the event, and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 years old or younger may attend free of charge.
