Art Fest at Woman’s Club

The Woman’s Club of Nashville will hold its first Art Fest, featuring paintings, pottery, jewelry and turned wood creations, plus car detailing, a bake sale, free parking and free admission. Leadership Franklin Deadline

Deadline for the 2014-2015 class is June 2, with applications available at leadershipfranklin.org. The non-profit community leadership organization is dedicated to educating, informing and empowering leaders to improve the quality of life in Franklin and Williamson County. Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society

Virginia Gooch Watson, president of Tennessee State Library and Archives Friends and former president of MTGS, is the instructor. Topic: Workshop on Genealogy, Skeletons in the Closet, plus If There Were NO Census Records, Where Would You Look? Nashville Symphony Summer Concerts

An annual summer tradition that embodies the organization’s mission of bringing outstanding music to audiences of every age and background throughout Middle Tennessee. Featured composers include Beethoven, Bernstein, Copland, Tchaikovsky, Cole Porter and more. All performances are free of charge (except where noted) and will be conducted by Nashville Symphony Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran. Dates and locations for the 2014 series are:

  • Wednesday, June 4, 7:30 p.m.: Centennial Park
  • Thursday, June 5, 8 p.m.: East Park
  • Friday, June 6, 8 p.m.: Bicentennial Mall State Park
  • Sunday, June 8, 7 p.m.: Crockett Park
  • Tuesday, June 10, 7 p.m.: Cumberland University, Lebanon (Admission for this concert is $5 for adults, free for students and children)
  • Wednesday, June 11, 7:30 p.m.: Key Park, Lafayette
  • Thursday, June 12, 7 p.m.: Two Rivers Mansion

The Symphony will conclude its free outdoor performances on July 4, when the orchestra takes part in Music City’s Independence Day celebration with a free concert in downtown Nashville on the Lawn at Riverfront Park. Information: www.nashvillesymphony.org/tickets/community_concerts.
