Tennessee’s Organic Growers Association Conference

Eight annual conference, held at Lakeshore Christian Church, 5434 Bell Forge Lane East, features two days of educational workshops, speakers and farm tours. Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival

This year’s festival, held at Public Square, will be celebrating the “Centennial of the Gift of Trees,” commemorating the mayor of Tokyo’s presentation of 3,000 Japanese cherry trees to Washington, D.C., in 1912. At the festival, Tennessee will receive and plant 20 seedlings that are direct descendants of the original Tidal Basin trees. The Japan America Society of Tennessee is seeking corporate sponsorships for the festival this year. Information: nashvillechamber.com.

Southern Literary Festival

The author of the best-selling House of Prayer No. 2 and the Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Tina Howe will be among the special guests at this year’s Southern Literary Festival on the Lipscomb University campus. The Southern Literary Festival was established 75 years ago as a way to celebrate arts in the South and to allow undergraduate writers in the South to have access to the leading writers of our time. Scarritt-Bennett Center’s Virginia Davis Laskey Research Library will host an e-Church Library Conference, on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31, 2012. The theme will be reading and library technology, and participants will learn about a variety of devises people are using to acquire knowledge and to read for leisure. Third annual TEDxNashville, a conference that brings together leaders in technology, entertainment, design, science, art, education, government, public policy, healthcare and other areas who share their thoughts and ideas focused on creating positive changes in our society. Cheekwood’s 4th Annual Native Plant Sale

Hosted by the Garden Club of Nashville, the Native Plant Sale offers a variety of wildflowers suited for local gardens. The sale, which benefits the Howe Garden at Cheekwood, will be held at the Botanic Hall and feature more than 50 varieties of plants, including wild ginger, Virginia bluebells and celandine poppies. There will also be an assortment of select native shrubs and flowering trees. Sale begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until all plants are sold.
