A Classic Maury County Christmas

The event will take place at various landmarks throughout Maury County:

  • “Sneak Peek Party at Swanky Christmas Vintage Marketplace” – 4-8 p.m., Dec. 5 at Rippavilla Plantation. Holiday shopping 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Dec. 6-7. Tickets are $6 per day or $20 for the entire weekend.
  • Explore the past during the APTA’s Christmas Homes Tour, noon-5 p.m. Dec. 6 and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 7, with tours of Rippavilla Plantation, Athenaeum Girls School, Elm Spring, the James K. Polk Home, Skipwith Hall and more. Tickets are $30. Proceeds go to the restoration of the Athenaeum.
  • Columbia Christmas Tree Lighting, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 on the downtown square in Columbia. Music, a visit from Santa and a few surprises are in store for guests.
  • The annual Confederate Christmas Ball will be held 7-11 p.m., Dec. 7 at the Memorial Building. Tickets are $25. Period dress is required for dancers, and spectators are encouraged but not required to wear period dress. Reservations are required. Contact Tammy Hatcher at 931-698-3876.

Nashville Chamber Interactive Media Meet-up

Like-minded Chamber members who meet to discuss trends, challenges, ideas and thoughts. Third Annual Tennessee Local Food Summit

This year’s event will highlight the impacts of local food on our health, our environment and our spirituality. In addition to a day of educational workshops and networking at Nashville’s Trevecca Nazarene University, 333 Murfreesboro Pike, chefs from many of Nashville’s best restaurants will contribute locally grown organic dishes for Friday and Saturday meals. Friday reception at Sloco, 2905 12th Ave. So., 6-9 p.m. Saturday’s workshops will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Included in the weekend and day fee will be dinner and music at Corsair’s Distillery. In addition there will be a noon Sunday tour of Delvin Farms. The tour is free and open to the public. Fee for the entire weekend is $100. Information: tnlocalfood.com.
