Nashville Zoo Hosts Docent Open House
Nashville Zoo is hosting an open house for anyone interested in joining the Zoo’s docent program, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Zoo’s Croft Center. Docents are a specialized group of the Zoo’s volunteer corps committed to educating the public about the Zoo’s animals AND conservation and wildlife issues. Docents must volunteer a minimum of 80 hours a year, attend six training classes (beginning Feb. 7) and pay a one-time fee of $80 for uniform and training materials. Old Timers Banquet
Former Atlanta Braves star Dale Murphy will be the featured speaker at the 77th annual Old Timers banquet, scheduled for the Nashville Airport Marriott. Chris Mercado, head coach of the South Nashville team that was one of eight teams to represent the U.S. during the 2014 Little League World Series, will be honored as the “Mr. Baseball” selection.
