The bill, sponsored by Adam Lowe, a state senator from Calhoun, would render someone convicted of felony firearm theft permanently ineligible to buy a firearm in Tennessee. The theory, I suppose, is that a bad guy with a gun is ipso facto not a good guy with a gun.

NASHVILLE (AP) - Aerosmith's Steven Tyler will be performing with country band Loving Mary next month at the inaugural Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin.

The two-day festival will be held Sept. 26-27 at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, across Franklin Road from The Factory at Franklin. Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Wilco, Weezer and The Decemberists will also be featured.

NASHVILLE (AP) - George Strait will finish off his two-year farewell tour in the biggest house in his home state of Texas - the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium.

The country superstar held a rare news conference Monday at the stadium to announce the last leg of his The Cowboy Rides Away tour. He announced he was retiring from the road last year but still plans to record, recently agreeing to a deal for five more studio albums.

Nelly will perform the crossover hit "Cruise" with country duo Florida Georgia Line during the CMT Music Awards. The imaginary, but once impenetrable, lines between American music genres are blurring more each day, and Nelly's happy to serve as an eraser.

NASHVILLE (AP) - For a couple of months now, Sheryl Crow has been loading her two young boys aboard a bus and taking off on a tour of country music radio stations around the country.

She's visiting with DJs and programming directors, playing a few songs live, then hopping back on the bus to do it again a few hours down the road. It reminds her, fittingly, of a scene from "Coal Miner's Daughter," the life story of Loretta Lynn.
