Coach Lea, Vanderbilt trying to play catchup in bigger, tougher SEC -

Clark Lea realized he had to make some serious changes to give his Vanderbilt Commodores a chance to compete in a bigger and even tougher Southeastern Conference.
The coach going into his fourth season put his alma mater through a makeover. He admitted the program had fallen behind when it came to the transfer portal and help for athletes eager to cash in with endorsement deals.

Nashville lawyer Lorne Hiller has been selected as the recipient of this year’s Larry Dean Wilks Leadership Award. Hiller was chosen for the award by fellow members of the Tennessee Bar Association’s 2024 Leadership Law class.

Southwood most recently served as director of finance and accounting at Waller in Nashville the past 14 years. Before his time at Waller, Southwood served as chief financial officer at Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry, PLC, 1996-2009, and then served as controller when the firm merged with the Bradley Arant Rose & White LLP firm based in Birmingham.

Longtime banker Chuck Lassing has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a senior vice president and financial advisor in the client advisory group.
Lassing’s experience in the financial services industry spans more than 28 years. Before joining Pinnacle, Lassing was a senior vice president and relationship manager for Reliant Bank. Other roles include serving as a senior vice president and city president for Magna Bank in Brentwood and as regional president – Middle Tennessee for National Bank of Commerce.
