"Forever Country" features 30 country singers in a blend of three of the genre's most beloved tunes and an innovative music video that highlights the breadth and history of country music. The song was released digitally and to radio and a sneak peek of the music video premiered on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" on Tuesday night in advance of the Nov. 2 awards show.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Ralph Stanley, a patriarch of Appalachian music who with his brother Carter helped expand and popularize the genre that became known as bluegrass, has died. He was 89.

Franklin Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Freedom Intermediate School Honors Choir, the Centennial High School Chamber Choir, Music City Strings and other surprise guests will make an appearance at this year’s event, which is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. today. The downtown Franklin Square will be closed for this event so attendees can view the movies and lights projected on the buildings and walk to the tree without worry of traffic. The square will be closed from 5:45-90 p.m.

Battle of Franklin Trust Adds Additional Walking Tours. The Battle of Franklin Trust will offer additional walking tours to commemorate the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Franklin, which was fought on November 30, 1864. Eric A. Jacobson, CEO of The Battle of Franklin Trust, will lead two morning battlefield tours, one on Nov. 27 and one on Nov. 30. Each tour will begin at 8 a.m. at The Carter House, the site of the Federal headquarters during the battle, and last until 9:30 a.m. Guests will visit crucial spots on the battlefield and learn about pivotal moments that occurred before, during and after the battle. Tickets are $25. In addition, a special tour of the Spring Hill battlefield will be offered on Nov. 29, 3-4:30 p.m., on the anniversary of the battle there. Attendees will hear about the sharp fighting there as well as the Confederate confusion which led to the Federal army’s escape and ultimately the Battle of Franklin. Attendees will also receive one free house tour admission to either The Carter House or Carnton Plantation. Tickets are $25. Due to limited space, reservations are required for both tours. 37. Nashville Public Library selects Meacham for honor -

Acclaimed presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning Nashvillian Jon Meacham will receive the 2015 Nashville Public Library Literary Award and will join Nashville’s own American history buff and country performer Tim McGraw for a free public lecture and conversation on Dec. 7.

NASHVILLE (AP) - The Confederate flag was once a familiar symbol in country music, representing the rural South and the renegade spirit of artists such as David Allan Coe and Hank Williams Jr.

But the rebel banner that will be removed Friday from the grounds of the South Carolina Capitol has faded from stage and song, with many country artists quietly distancing themselves from the emblem that used to feature prominently in merchandise, lyrics and concerts.

NASHVILLE (AP) — A newspaper reports that pop music star and actor Justin Timberlake has purchased about 126 acres of land in Williamson County.

According to The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1IqCqUr), Timberlake paid $4 million for the land on Old Highway 96 in the Leiper's Fork community through an entity with his Los Angeles-based certified public accountant as the trustee.

The marquee events, nightly concerts scheduled for June 5-8 at LP Field, have been sold out for months, so don’t expect to see Tim McGraw or Keith Urban performing in the park, but the festival prides itself on offering up well-known acts, old favorites and rising stars along with the superstars.
