The sixth-ranked Volunteers (10-2) take on No. 10 Clemson (11-2) in the Orange Bowl on Friday night. 6. Billions pour into bioplastics as markets begin ramping up -

CLEVELAND (AP) — In a world increasingly troubled by the persistent harm that plastic — manufactured in petrochemical plants — has had on the environment, companies are investing billions of dollars to ramp up production of plastics made from natural, renewable materials that can be safely composted or can biodegrade under the right conditions.

When Steven Baldwin started his freshman year at Austin Peay State University in 2012, he had a smart, carefully considered plan for his future.

Tayst chef Jeremy Barlow didn’t set out to change the world. He just wanted to make incredibly delicious food. And for him, that meant using the best ingredients he could find.

But the chef once known for his Krispy Kreme bread pudding has changed his idea of what those ingredients are. Now, in the kitchen at Tayst, 90 percent of the food comes from local sources and those sources are 100 percent sustainable. That’s a big change for a self-described fast food addict.

Each year, nearly 23,000 people come to view more than 250 films from 48 countries, including documentaries, narrative features, animated and experimental shorts.
