Why are Tennesseans so afraid of a state income tax?

The odds of an income tax becoming a reality in Tennessee – one of the nation’s lowest-taxed states – are slim to none.

Changing state constitution no easy task

Amending Tennessee’s Constitution isn’t as rare as it was in the state’s first 200 years, and yet it remains a tough, drawn-out task, even if the most popular process, the legislative method, is used.

Constitutional amendments on Nov. 4 ballot

NashvilleNext Neighborhoods Meeting. NashvilleNext is bringing together members of the community to discuss how the 25-year master plan for Nashville will affect their neighborhoods. The third of those meetings will be held today at Hillwood High School (400 Davidson Road, 37205), 6 p.m. In the most recent phase of the planning process, Nashvillians were asked to pick between three “Futures” that would guide decisions on zone changes, subdivisions and important infrastructure needs across the county. The leading choice, Centers with Infill, emphasizes increased transit to highly developed activity centers and the facilities to support them. At the neighborhood meetings, NashvilleNext planners will explain how this choice relates to each neighborhood, and participants will provide feedback on how they would like to see the citywide plan adopted into each of the existing 14 community plans. NashvilleNext will be implemented primarily through the community plans, and discussion of additional details began Oct. 30. Additional meetings are scheduled for:
